Who Qualifies?

The Malta Individual Investor Programme offers citizenship by certificate of naturalisation to individuals and their families who contribute to the economic and social development of Malta.

To qualify, applicants are asked to make a contribution to the National Development and Social Fund established by the Government of Malta and coordinated by the Identity Malta agency. Only the most highly reputable applicants are admitted, and are identified by a thorough due diligence process. Applications cannot be made directly by applicants, but must instead be made through approved persons. Boston provides privileged access to a network of such approved persons and will provide guidance at every stage of the process.

Your Investment

To qualify for this opportunity, the main applicant must be at least 18 years of age and provide proof of having been a resident of Malta for a period of 12 months prior to the certificate of naturalisation being issued.

Applicants are also asked to make the following investments in the development of Malta:

  1. Lease a residential property in Malta for a period of 5 years at a minimum annual rent of €16,000, or purchase real estate with a minimum value of €350,000, to be held for at least 5 years.
  2. Make a contribution to the National Development and Social Fund, as follows:
  • €650,000 for the main applicant
  • €25,000 for a spouse and for each minor child (if applicable)
  • €50,000 for each dependant aged 18 to 26 years and for dependants aged over 55 years
  • Invest a minimum of €150,000 in government approved financial instruments, which must be maintained for a minimum of 5 years
  • Have global health insurance coverage for at least €50,000 for the main applicant and each of the dependants.

The MIIP is managed by the Identity Malta agency of the Government of Malta. Applications cannot be made directly by applicants – rather, they must be made through approved persons. Boston is able to advise and assist with the full process.
