Please can you give us an overview of your career?

I left school at 15 and started out with a summer job in the grocery department of a local supermarket. I enjoyed the interaction with the customers, but it wasn’t a long-term career!  I eventually found myself working as a company administrator at a CSP, having started out as an office junior, when my eldest daughter was born.  That was obviously a life changing moment and lead to a change of outlook, which saw me gradually rise through different roles to senior management. I was appointed as a director of Fedelta Trust Limited in 2014. Fedelta Trust Limited was acquired by Boston in May 2023 and I was appointed to the Boston Limited board on completion of that acquisition.

Where is the most interesting place you have travelled to for work and why?

I haven’t travelled widely in my career; my roles have primarily been to manage, plan and oversee day to day client and company affairs, which means I tend to stay in the office to make sure transactions or other events take place without setback or delay. I do like London; its history, culture and famous landmarks make it a vibrant and interesting place to visit.

What’s the one gadget you couldn’t live without?

My Garmin Fenix 7 Watch together with the Garmin Connect App.  It’s a smart watch but it also tracks my health and activities via GPS.  All that data is recorded and presented via the App in useful summaries, into which you can deep dive if you enjoy statistics and graphs.

What’s the best thing about your job?

The variety, no two situations are exactly the same and there are usually several different aspects to consider before reaching the best solution or outcome for the client.

What was the last TV series you watched?

Probably, Game of Thrones.  I tend to listen to a lot of podcasts these days, as a platform they provide more time for the presenters to delve into the detail of a particular topic rather than say TV, which can be restricted due to time or budget constraints. There are so many good podcasts available, but for current affairs The News Agents with Emily Maitlis, John Sopel and Lewis Goodall is usually a very good listen.

Tell us something that might surprise us about you?

The first thing that comes to mind is that I have four daughters, my eldest is 29 and my youngest is 9.  It still surprises me!

What’s your motto or personal mantra?

I haven’t settled on any one motto or personal mantra. I quite like “Every action you take is a vote for the person you want to become” (James Clear, who wrote Atomic Habits).  I also like “The hack you’ve been looking for is consistency and hard work”.
