Yesterday ICM hosted the Isle of Man Aviation Conference that took place at the Villa Marine in Douglas, Isle of Man. The conference is now in it’s 4th year and was attended by over 130 delegates from the UK, Europe, America and the Middle East.

Guests were welcomed by Isle of Man Treasury Minister Hon Eddie Teare, MHK who gave an introduction to the Isle of Man and highlighted the importance of the aircraft industry in the Isle of Man. Next Fabio Gamba of the European Business Aviation Association provided an update on EBAA and their plans for the future. He explained that whilst the business aviation industry is still experiencing challenging times, 2014 is looking more positive. He also highlighted that the time has come to try and make business aviation more affordable.

Further interesting presentations and panel discussions took place throughout the day on topics including “The success of the Cape Town Convention and the International Registry”, “An introduction to aircraft registration online”, “New EU Part-NCC: what aircraft owners should know”, and “US Aircraft Transactions: Non-US citizen registration, closings and Oklahoma City.” An update from the Isle of Man Aircraft Registry was also given by Brian Johnson, Acting Director Civil Aviation.

The event gave delegates the opportunity to raise questions with all of the speakers and panellists and  provided a fantastic opportunity for guests to network and meet with fellow aviation professionals.

Following the event guests enjoyed a post conference reception at The Tickethall in Douglas where they were served a creative fusion of Western and South East Asian Food.
