During the last week of school summer term I was fortunate to be carrying out my work experience with Boston Limited.  I enjoyed my week interacting with various members of the Boston team.  I was provided with an excellent overview of how the company works and the various departments that are required in a large company.

After my weeks work experience I was given the opportunity to come back during the school holidays and help out with various administrative tasks.  Ordinarily I would not be up and about by 9 in the morning let alone leaving the house with my dad at 8 to go to work.  Our routine was breakfast in the house and take away coffee from java on the way up to the office, I liked this.

In the office I would start the day with filing.  Whilst some may think that this is boring I really enjoyed it.  My dad had explained to me that filing is an important role as people need to find papers regularly and having the filing up to date is important.  My other main task was scanning.  This was my favourite part of the day.  I like using computers and found the scanning and associated work around it interesting.  Outside of filing and scanning I helped with archiving files and delivery’s and occasionally made my dad a cup of tea!

I have never truly considered my career opportunities for when I complete my education but following my exposure to the office environment with Boston I feel that I better understand what is involved and the variation of work that I could be exposed to by working for such a company.  I am very grateful to those that I worked with and hope to one day return to Boston.
