Chartering a superyacht is often considered to be one of the safest ways to enjoy a holiday, so it’s no surprise that during the coronavirus pandemic we have seen celebrities choose to holiday onboard a yacht instead of other luxury alternatives.
Whilst superyachts are usually always pristine, charter companies are going even further during the pandemic to ensure that yachts are safe including implementing new procedures, deep cleaning and hygiene regimes and regular testing of crew to ensure the safety of guests and crew. Deliveries are left on the quay and loaded by the yachts by the crew so there no need for anybody who is not a guest or crew member to board the yacht.
Once onboard guests are effectively in a protected environment or bubble and whilst they may not want to or be able to take trips onshore, they can enjoy their time aboard the yacht without the worry of coming into contact with other people and the worry of being exposed to the virus.
If guests do want to spend some time onshore the captain may be able to find secluded lagoons or private beaches for guests to take advantage of.
Travel restrictions may be in place depending on your country of origin and choice of destination, and some destinations may require travellers to provide a negative COVID-19 test before they arrive, but once onboard the yacht the charter experience should be largely unchanged and guests can take advantage of the facilities and dining experiences onboard.
Whilst nothing is without risk, chartering a yacht is one of the safest ways to enjoy a holiday this summer.
