We sat down with Tim Nelson, Senior Client Relationship Manager in our Jersey Office, to learn more about his career journey, what motivates him, and a few fun facts you might not expect.

Please can you give us an overview of your career?  

I started a career in insurance with a leading international broker in London straight from school and progressed my career working with global corporate businesses for 9 years, then moved to Jersey in 1989 where I continued in the industry with a small broker. In 2003 I changed direction and worked with a Management Consultant working with clients requiring leadership and communication training before returning to the insurance industry in 2005, where I merged 2 small businesses into one larger firm which was very challenging. In 2015 I was given the opportunity of joining Aqua Group as a Client Relationship Manager working primarily with Middle East based families –  a new challenge which has bene most enjoyable to date.

Where is the most interesting place you have travelled to for work and why?

Qatar – the culture of the locals and extremely hot weather in the height of summer was challenging.

What’s the one gadget you couldn’t live without?

A water bottle – hydration is key.

What’s the best thing about your job?

Fulfilling families objectives and assisting the next generation succeed into decision making roles.

Tell us something that might surprise us about you?

I played the bugle in the Corps of Drums at school alongside the comedian and actor Eddie Izzard (now known as Suzie Izzard).
