Please can you give us a brief overview of your career
Having started a degree in European Studies and French and quickly realising it wasn’t for me, I started a training contract with Ernst and Young Isle of Man and qualified as an accountant with them. I always worked on the fiduciary and advisory side of the business and stayed with the firm for over 13 years through various changes of ownership of the fiduciary business.
In 2006 I was part of the Management Buyout team for an international fiduciary business with key responsibility for Business Development in the luxury assets sector.
In 2012 I joined Boston as Group Business Development Director and earlier this year I lead the Management Buyout of Boston with my Co-Director Alex McNee and was appointed CEO on completion of the buy-out.
Where is the most interesting place you have travelled to for work and why?
I’ve been very fortunate to travel to lots of interesting places for work but often I don’t spend enough time in places to really get to see them – for example, I once travelled to Oklahoma for 24 hours to complete a purchase of a luxury asset on behalf of a client. In terms of fascinating places I’ve visited I have to mention Beirut because of the history and culture, and a trip to a South African Game reserve in the Kruger National Park where I joined a sales conference for a private jet company to discuss the benefits of the newly launched Isle of Man Aircraft Registry.
What’s the one gadget you couldn’t live without?
If anyone has seen me in wet weather or humidity, they will understand this – hair straighteners!
What’s the best thing about your job?
There are lots of great things about my job. The variation, as no two days are the same; the people, as I get to work with some great individuals, and also the ability to travel.
What was the last TV series you watched?
Motherland – hilarious!
Tell us something that might surprise us about you.
I’m the proud owner of a Blue Peter Badge, I won the badge when I took part on their Christmas Stamp Drawing Competition when I was 9.
