As part of our blog series, Introducing Boston’s New Talent, we’re highlighting the experiences of our newer team members as they navigate their first steps at Boston Multi Family Office. Through this series, we introduce you to the people behind the titles and share their unique perspectives on joining the business, adapting to new roles, and the lessons they’ve learned along the way.
Today, we’re pleased to get to know one of our Senior Bookkeepers, Svetlin Krastev.
Can you tell us a little about yourself?
I’m originally from Bulgaria, born in the historic military town of Pleven, but I’ve lived in the Isle of Man for the past 17 years (I think!) I hold a BTEC in Business and a degree in Accountancy and Finance. I’m a very social person who enjoys spending time with others, and I have a real passion for sports, whether I’m taking part or spectating. My favourite sport though is fell running. I’m also lucky to share my life with my wonderful Scottish partner.
What is your current role at Boston and when did you start?
I started at Boston in June last year as a Client Bookkeeper and was pleased to be promoted to Senior Bookkeeper in October.
What attracted you to Boston?
I was originally attracted to Boston as I had a friend, Nick, who worked here.
Did you have any pre-conceptions about the company?
I had no pre-conceptions at all. Nick told me it was a great company to work for, and this is as far as my pre-conceptions went.
How would you describe the team/company’s culture so far?
I would describe the culture as warm, welcoming and very encouraging. I liked that I could fit in instantly and the people here are genuine, so I did not have to worry about that at all. I also thought it was great that I was given work right away so I can feel that I am contributing to the team.
What is something new you have learnt since starting at Boston?
After starting, I had to learn more system related skills, as some of the software/apps that Boston uses were new to me.
What makes Boston different to previous companies you may have worked for?
Something I really appreciate is that Boston gives new employees, like me, the chance to meet with each department manager. That’s something I haven’t experienced before. In most places, introductions are quick, just a 15-minute walk around to say hello, so I rarely remember names or understand what each team does or how the departments fit into the bigger picture.
The Boston version, however, allowed me to meet people and departments with purpose and lasting impact. My manager has been intentional about creating opportunities for me to learn, improve, and grow on the job. The overall environment here helps people feel comfortable right away, which I think makes it easier for new starters to contribute from day one.
It’s a very genuine company, and I’ve felt truly welcomed – especially thanks to Sandra and Sonia, who have both been wonderful.
What advice would you give to someone else starting their first day at Boston?
Do the best you can every day from day one because the company is worth it.
