Please can you give us an overview of your career?

I have been within the fiduciary industry for 20 + years, starting as a trader on a trading desk for a small firm of stockbrokers in Jersey. Wanting to expand my knowledge, I went into private wealth and dealing with all types of assets and clients starting as a junior and working my way up to Director. Business Development has always been an interest as I enjoy people and talking and I’m passionate about my job. I did have a brief break in the middle where I ran my own firm of estate agents which gave me a real understanding of property, property investments and dealing with people and their requirements and sometimes their impossible requirements and how to manage that.

Where is the most interesting place you have travelled to for work and why?

I used to fly to London a lot to visit clients and whilst London doesn’t seem that exciting, I have dealt and managed wealth for some very interesting and famous clients, which never gets boring, especially when you build the relationship and they look upon you as an extension to the family.

What’s the one gadget you couldn’t live without?

Cliché I know, but probably my phone. I’m inherently nosey, plus it has all my pictures of my children………and Land Rover! I wish it wasn’t my phone and was something far more highbrow such as a kindle or puzzle book.

What’s the best thing about your job?

It has to be the people; confidence isn’t something I have ever lacked so walking into a room of people and talking about what I’m passionate about always cheers me up. Every day is different and opportunity is always around the corner if you remain proactive and enthusiastic which is easier when you work for a firm like Boston who provide all the support and requirements needed to do the job well.

Tell us something that might surprise us about you?

I’m unsure if this is a positive, but according to my family tree Billy the Kid is my great great great uncle and Harry Vardon is my great uncle. Whilst I do shoot at the weekends, I’m no Billy the Kid and when not shooting I can be found on the golf course, and yet again, I’m no Harry Vardon!

What’s your motto or personal mantra?

Treat people how you wish to be treated, this is fairly self-explanatory, but it’s a difficult one to argue with.
